Floyd Gregory Perkins, a life-long resident of Wichita, KS, passed away November 14, 2021, at the age of 65.
Greg, as his friends and family knew him, was born October 2, 1956 in Wichita, KS. Greg graduated from Wichita High School West. He attended Colby Community College and studied broadcasting. Greg spent his early years in radio, which was his true passion. After radio, Greg worked for Bank of America and Douglas Guardian, as a Senior Field Manager. Greg retired from Douglas-Guardian in 2019.
One of Greg’s hobbies was collecting watches. Also, everyone who was familiar with Greg knew that he loved the television show, Doctor Who. Greg’s friends even nicknamed him, “The Doctor.” Greg’s favorite quote from the show, came from the 11th doctor, “We are all stories in the end, just make it a good one.”
Greg will truly be missed by many. We were all blessed to have his kindness and friendship in all our lives. The Ames family, who were dear friends of Greg, left these words. “While Greg’s story wasn’t as long as we would have liked, it is one that will always be with us.”
Greg has requested no service. He will be cremated and requested his ashes to be scattered as high as possible so he may (as in radio) always be “ON-AIR”.
Greg is survived by his sister Pamela Hubbart, who lives in Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert & Phyllis Perkins.
