James "Rod" Jacobs

South Haven, Kansas - On April 18, 2021, James R "Rod" Jacobs, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at home at the age of 64 after a courageous battle with cancer. Rod was born May 7, 1956 in Wichita, KS to Pete and Della Jacobs. He graduated from West High in 1974. Rod was a pilot for over 30 years, 15 as a private pilot for Mike Steven Auto Group. On August 31, 2002 he married Vickie Vargas. He was preceded in death by his parents Pete and Della Jacobs; sister Cathy Wiggins; and brother Timothy "Scott" Jacobs. He is survived by his wife; his sons John Jacobs, Dallas TX and Michael Heater, Jr, South Haven, KS; daughter-in-law, Rheann Heater; four grandchildren (gb's), Addison, Brody, Carlee, and Della Mae Heater; his cousin, Ernie (Denise) Jacobs; brother Mike (Janie) Jacobs; sister Vicki (Tom), all of Wichita, KS; and many lifelong friends. A celebration of Rod's life will be May 7, 2021 at 11:05 a.m. at the Community Church, 314 Main, South Haven, KS 67140. A private graveside service will take place at a later date.
